Poetry Evening

Save the Date!

We hope you’ll join us for an evening full of poetry as the AWP finishes up its annual writing conference right here in Kansas City, Missouri. This poetry reading begins at 7:00 p.m., and we expect about eleven poets to take the floor for about 10 minutes each. I’m calling eleven a PLEASANTRY OF POETS. If time allows, there may be a few open mic readers, too. The evening will be even more enjoyable if you work up an appetite for pizza and beer. The Milwaukee Deli offers many tasty temptations, so please show them some appreciation for hosting our evening.

Alarie's contribution to the reading will be to share 3-4 ekphrastic (meaning inspired by art) poems to give a quick demo of how to stretch the limits of creativity.
